Well it was definitely a successful weekend! Friday when I got here I just hung out at home and watched a movie. I was really exhausted from the drive and just wanted to chill. I also began teaching Stephen the art of the Rubik's cube. After a good night's sleep Mom and I decided to get some of our shopping done first thing in the morning. We went to Albertson's and bought 12 pounds of chicken, along with some more boxed dinners and smelly things. :) We came home and jarred my chicken. At one I went to the Re-opening of the Chandler Center for the Arts. Firefly (aka McKenzie, Melanie, and Maddie) were performing there. It was a REALLY good show and I was so excited to get to see my best friend again! After the show I went home and relaxed for a couple of hours until we decided to do the rest of our shopping before dinner. We went to Wal Mart and Costco where I was able to buy a new box of rice krispie treats (mine was running out). I also bought muffins for the girls and some pudding for Monet. ( I don't know why but she just really loves pudding!) We drove to Red Robin to meet up with the wives after priesthood session. We put in our seating request and then just waited. It was fun to see Amy, Laura, Grandma, Joy, and Kristi. After I said hello I set off on my LOOOONG adventure to Wild Horse Pass Hotel for the Colgate Country Showdown!
Here is a little known (or well known...I just didn't know) fact about the I10. If is says you are going on the I10 WEST you are really driving SOUTH. Whoever invented that, needed to learn their directions before they printed signs!!!!!!! After and quarter of a tank of gas and many frustrated phone calls, I arrived just 10 minutes before Firefly was supposed to perform! The crowd was full of Firefly fans and they did AMAZING!! We watched the other 5 contestants and then awaited the judges decision. (Just so you know what is going on...Firefly won the local competition for KNIX and went on to the state round. This competition last night was the state competition and the winner moves on to Region in New Mexico) After about 30 minutes of waiting...they brought all of the contestants out on stage and announced the winner. FIREFLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They did so good and they won 1,000 dollars! Now in November they will go to New Mexico to keep moving up in the competition. I am so proud :) After the show we all went to In-N-Out and then home! I'm so glad that McKenzie was down here at the same time as me and that I got to be there when they won. I miss those girls sooo much!
This morning we woke up to bacon. That's right...LOTS of bacon. :) After french toast, bacon, eggs, potatoes, fruit, sunny D, and Milk....our tummy's were full to the brim ready to watch conference. It was a really amazing session and I am so blessed to be able to have so many ways to watch it from my own home. After conference Mom and I made bread dough so I can take home some home-made bread. MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm....... :) :) Mom is also making cinnamon rolls that I get to to take home, AND eat right now!! What an awesome mommy!!!!!!! In about 2 1/2 hours I will take off in the car on the way back to my rainy and cold flag! I'M SO EXCITED!! As much as I love it here, the fact that last night we got a dust storm and Flag got TONS of rain...makes me want to go back!!! Bring it on!!!
